At Boston Logan International Airport, a ground collision involving two JetBlue Airbus A321 aircraft occurred

Today at Boston Logan International Airport, when both aircraft were at the de-icing pad, a ground collision occurred involving two JetBlue Airbus A321 aircraft: an A321ceo and an A321neo. The scheduled departure times for each aircraft were almost the same.

The two aircraft in the incident, registered N956JT and N2157J, were scheduled to take off from BOS at 6:00 and 6:01 local time (UTC -5) respectively, according to information obtained from Flightradar24. At 5:54 p.m. local time, the airport's Meteorological Aerodrome Report (METAR) showed winds of three knots, temperatures of -2°C (28.4 °F), and a dew point of -3°C (26.6 °F).

JetBlue flight B6551 was scheduled to be operated by the A321ceo to Orlando International Airport (MCO), then the A321neo to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).

One aircraft crashed into the other as it was approaching the de-icing pad, while the other was parked in a nearby lane, a JetBlue representative told Simple Flying. One A321's winglet and the other's tail portion sustained damage as a result of the accident. Thankfully, neither a crew member nor a passenger on either aircraft reported being hurt.

A replacement Airbus A321ceo, registered N970JB, has taken off from BOS and is currently operating flight B6551 to MCO in reaction to the incident. At 10:43, over four hours after the initial scheduled departure time, the flight took off. The average flight time from BOS to MCO is two hours and thirty minutes.

Based on Flightradar24 tracking services, another Airbus A321ceo registered as N981JT is anticipated to perform the flight to LAS. Nevertheless, the airplane is still at its gate area as of right now.

According to the airline's website, JetBlue's A321ceo and A321neo aircraft have 200 seats in an all-economy configuration, while those carrying Mint, the business class counterpart, have either 159 seats (A321ceo) or 160 seats (A321neo).
